HOW THE HOG COMMANDER ULTIMATE TRAPPING SYSTEM WORKS

We use a highly modified #5 steel jawed trap to deliver a securely anchored Hog Commander 48″ customized spring loaded cable up the leg of the target animal. As the target enters the hidden trap set area and steps on the trap’s pan, the trap throws the anchored cable 10″-12″ up the target’s leg. The hog immediately pulls its leg from the trap and the trap itself falls away to the ground. The loaded spring tightens the cable noose down to a specific point, to about the size of a quarter, above the dew claw of the caught animal making it impossible for the animal to escape. The opposite end of the cable should be anchored with a heavy chain, cable lock, rope, strap, etc..(not included) to a solid tree, post, pole, earthen anchor or drag. The “Catch Friendly Sleeve” on the catch end of our cable virtually eliminates damage to the target animal’s leg and the deer stop does not restrict blood flow and circulation.

PREVENT DEER FROM ENTERING YOUR TRAP SET AREA

Hog Commander strongly recommends you use a deer repellent around your trap set area and mix thoroughly with your bait pile. Deer repellents are available at most all feed stores, co-ops, lawn and garden centers and hardware stores. Repellents come in both granular and liquid form. A $10 container should last you a season if applied as directed. If using granular repellent, spread 1/2 cup around your trap set area and mix 1 cup with your bait pile. If using liquid form, spray liberally around your trap set area and mix into your bait pile. Re-apply to area after a rain or as needed.

Most repellents are composed primarily of eggs or meat meal, blood meal and bone meal. It repels deer from the area but acts as a very strong attractant to omnivorous hogs. USE DEER REPELLENT!!!

GRANULAR DEER REPELLENT LIQUID DEER REPELLENT

IF YOU DO NOT USE A DEER REPELLENT AND YOU CATCH DEER IN YOUR TRAPPING SYSTEM, THE DEER CAN BE RELEASE UNHARMED. It's a two person operation. Using a 4 FT STEEL HOG COMMANDER ULTIMATE CATCH / RELEASE POLE slowly approach the caught deer and slip the catch pole noose over the neck of the doe (or one antler of a buck if it still has its antlers at the time of catch) and immobilize the animal down to the ground. The deer should be on the ground stretched out with its caught leg up (not underneath). As you keep the head controlled your partner should approach the deer from the backside, away from the hooves. From the deer's back your partner places his/her knee and body weight down onto the front shoulder of the deer. Then your partner takes control of the leg caught in the catch cable. Next, Loosen the catch cable and remove it from the leg. Your partner then carefully stands up and moves away to a safe distance. Finally, you gently release the catch / release pole from the neck of the deer and move away to a safe distance. The deer will most likely lie in place for a few moments and when it realizes its no longer caught will stand and run away unharmed.

REMOVE RACCOONS FROM YOUR HOG TRAP SET AREA

Hog Commander recommends you remove raccoons from your trap set area several days in advance of setting your trapping system. This practice will greatly increase your probability of catching hogs in your HOG COMMANDER ULTIMATE TRAPPING SYSTEM much sooner. Hog commander advises you to remove raccoons with T3 Dog Proof Raccoon Traps, by Minnesota Trapline Products, Inc. (not included). It's been found that the T3 trap is the most effective and inexpensive method to capture and remove raccoons from any area. The T3 DP Raccoon Traps are available for a limited time in our store for $15.99 (plus shipping & handling). The solid and rugged design will allow you years of continuous use. IMPORTANT!! If the raccoons are not removed from your trap set area, they'll be the first on scene every night to raid your bait pile and trigger your trap. The spring loaded catch cable will be deployed onto the raccoon's leg but the raccoon will pull its leg free due to the deer stop stopping the spring from completely closing the loop onto the its leg. The raccoon will run away leaving your trap triggered and your trap set area as well as your remaining bait pile vulnerable to encroaching wild hogs. The voracious hogs will obliterate your remaining bait pile and ultimately leave the area free from capture. REMOVE THE RACCOONS FROM YOUR TRAP SET AREA!!!

BUILD A DEADFALL CORAL

To funnel and mechanically force wild hogs into your HOG COMMANDER ULTIMATE TRAPPING SYSTEM build a deadfall coral around your bait pile. Start by taking deadfall (dead limbs, trees, sticks, branches and logs) and build up a 3ft high wall in the shape of a "V" around your bait pile. Make the each of the legs 8-10ft long. Place the bait pile on the inside at the top of "V" one to two feet away from your buried trap set. This forces the advancing hogs to walk right into your trap set. If you do not catch them on the front leg on the initial approach, the hog(s) will begin feeding on your bait pile and eventually step onto your trap with their rear leg.

KEEP ALL LIVESTOCK OUT OF YOUR TRAP SET AREA

Sometimes a new trap set may be required in an area where livestock graze and roam. Keep all livestock out of your trap set area by simply wiring off your area. Take at least three t-post and drive them into your marked area. Use three ranges of 14 gauge wire to safely "wire off" the trap set area. Your livestock are kept out of the area and the feral hogs have easy access to your bait pile and trap set.
